With just a fortnight to go before the new academic year starts for schools in the UAE, some airlines have discounted their airfares or are offering deals, making it cheaper for families who are looking to make a short trip abroad or are flying back.

These deals also coincide with the Eid Al Adha break, which is likely to be after the first week of September. Official dates are yet to be announced but those considering a short break away from the UAE can take advantage of the discounted fares.

Sharjah-based budget carrier Air Arabia is running its 48-hour offer and offering special one-way fares starting from Dh199 to 24 selected destinations. Passengers need to book until today (August 16, 2016) to fly until October 31.

One-way fares from Ras Al Khaimah to Doha start at Dh199, to Muscat at Dh285, to Peshawar at Dh315, to Islamabad at Dh320 and to Cairo at Dh499.

One-way fares from Sharjah to Karachi, Bahrain Muscat start at Dh285. Fares to popular Pakistani cities like Peshawar, Multan, Sialkot, Quetta and Faisalabad have been reduced under the offer.

Flydubai, too, is offering discounted prices from various destinations in Pakistan. Returning families to the UAE can take advantage of these prices if they book by midnight on Monday, August 22, 2016.

The airline is offering up to 30 per cent discount on economy and business class fares from Karachi, Quetta, Multan, Sailkot or Faisalabad starting from Dh576 (PKR16,420) return in economy class, or in business from Dh1,513 (PKR 43,080) return.
