Bags of trouble for man with fake $100 note
A jobless Emirati who used fake $100 notes and purchased a bag from a shop was sentenced to three months in jail by the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance.
SBM, 27, is accused of possessing for promotion purpose forged $1,100 of 100 notes.
Mahmoud Mohajmed, 41, Iranian salesman testified that the accused entered the shop and asked him for a Dh500 Etisalat card. “As I told him that there is no such card, the customer got confused and left the shop. He entered again and asked for a bag…I told him that it's price is Dh350…He told me that he does not have UAE dirhams and instead he paid $100…I calculated the amount and returned to him Dh10. I suspected the note and asked my brother to get the car’s plate number. I sent the note to an exchange shop in Lamcy Plaza which proved that it was fake,” he testified.
“From the car plate number we reached the accused who confessed to using the note in the shop and denied knowing that it was forged. He also confessed to possessing other notes in his house. He claimed that he has got the amount from MA. The latter denied giving the accused any money and said that he is jobless and the accused used to spend on him,” testified Corporal Muhieddin Idris.
Criminal Evidences reported that the 11 notes of $100 value were forged.
