Children playing at JLT's park were in for a massive surprise on Saturday evening when a deer sprinted into the green patch from across the road after dodging a few cars cruising by.

Young boys and girls were excited to find a new playmate, but the younger lot was scared as they played in the park with their nannies or parents keeping an eye on them close-by.

The young deer was probably more scared when it encountered a playful crowd in the park. "It was hiding near the bushes," said a young boy who was playing at the park at the time of the deer's sudden arrival.

A few adults present in the park kept the children at bay till the JLT's security officials and police officials arrived at the scene. It took about five men to run capture the deer so that it did not head back towards the nearby road and thus, causing accident or getting injured.

It is not clear from where the deer made its surprise entry but quite a few JLT residents flocked to the park as word quickly spread about its presence in the park.

An excited child and eye-witness of the whole drama told Emirates 24|7 that he saw the deer "jump over a big, black vehicle" and he even saw the deer's paw marks on the vehicle's windshield.

Onlookers were not being allowed to venture too close to the startled animal as it continued to rest on the ground after making a surprise foray into the crowded park.

Security officials held on the the deer as it continued to tremble in fear. The animal was covered partially with a blanket as proper arrangements were being made to move the deer from the JLT park around 7:45pm.
