Belgian found dead in Sharjah flat

A Belgian was found dead in his apartment in Sharjah on Monday, according to police sources.

A Belgian woman, reportedly his girlfriend, alerted Sharjah Police after she found the door of his flat locked from inside and spotted his car in the parking slot of his building in Al Taawun area.

According to media reports she went to the apartment after trying to unsuccessfully contact the deceased for the past few days.

Police immediately rushed to his apartment and opened the door only to find his decomposed body. He is believed to be in early 30s.

Police collected fingerprints and other evidence from the apartment and initial probe suspects a criminal act.

Meanwhile, the body has been transferred to the Forensic Laboratory to determine the exact cause of the death.

He had been living alone in the apartment for more than a year, according to some residents of the building.
