BlackBerry Q10 sales in the UAE on par with Samsung S4, says a senior Axiom official. The company CEO told Emirates24|7 that his company placed the largest single order for any BlackBerry phones ever for Q10 and they are still in short supply.

“It is the fantastic product and one of the two best selling product along with the Samsung S4,” said Faisal al Bannai CEO of Axiom.

“The Q10 sales have been phenomenal and much better than the all-touch Z10. We were so confident of the success of Q10 that we placed our largest single order of the phone ever since we started our relationship with the BlackBerry. Even then we ran out of the phones,” he said
speaking during the inauguration of the BlackBerry’s first flagship store at the Dubai Mall in the UAE.

“There are plans to open more such malls in other key cities in the GCC. We are in discussion with BlackBerry with this regard. The process for a store in the UAE itself started about two years ago. The idea is also not simply to open a store anywhere and everywhere,” he added.

Meanwhile, according reports BlackBerry will see higher than expected sales during fiscal 2013.

RBC Analyst Mark Sue says BlackBerry could ship 3.5 million units of phones on its new BlackBerry 10 operating system in the first quarter of the fiscal year, higher than his previous forecast of 2.75-million and 14 million by the end of 2013.

According to a Bloomberg report BlackBerry probably delivered 7.7 million smartphones to customers between March and May.

Despite massive proliferation of full touch mobile handsets, BlackBerry’s qwerty keyboard has millions of dedicated followers. The report
quoting Maynard Um an analyst with Wells Fargo & Co says,

“The die-hard BlackBerry installed base of 76 million subscribers loyal to the keyboard presents a strong upgrade opportunity.”
