BlackBerry to control iPhone, Android devices

BlackBerry introduces new features to control Apple and Android devices operating within its enterprise server.

New apps available on both the Android PlayStore and Apple’s iTunes enables an IT manager to control any Android and Apple devices connected to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server 10 [https://ca.blackberry.com/business/software/bes-10.html], says a report in tech blog CrackBerry.com.

Although the announcement was made about incorporating Android and iOS phones way back in February, it is only now that the apps have gone live.

The Secure Work Space creates a new containerization, binding the apps on connected devices and providing them secure connectivity.

Managed applications are secured and separated from personal apps and data, providing an integrated email, calendar and contacts app, an enterprise-level secure browser and secure attachment viewing and editing with Documents To Go.

The system enables user authentication to access secure apps and work data cannot be shared outside the secure work space.

Although the development is mainly of assistance to IT managers and office admins, Android and Apple users taking your devices to work and connecting to the server beware. You can no more play around.

BlackBerry has been campaigning about the superiority of its BlackBerry Balance, which enables freedom and privacy for employees while using their devices for personal use while delivering the security and management the office environment requires for business use.

“It’s the best of both worlds, seamlessly built into every BlackBerry 10 smartphone and managed through BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10. Personal and work apps and information are kept separate, and the user can switch from their Personal Space to their Work Space with a simple gesture. The Work Space is fully encrypted, managed and secured, enabling organizations to protect critical content and applications,” a description of the BlackBerry Balance notes.

BlackBerry says its multi-platform Enterprise Mobility Management will enable IT managers to get the control they need while giving users the experience they want.

This also makes the BES 10 the only such system capable of controlling all devices including the range of BlackBerry devices.
