The British Embassy in Dubai has issued a statement on behalf of the parents of 15-year-old Harry Harling, who fell from the 11th floor of an under-construction building on Saturday morning, and died.
The statement thanked the people for their support and requested time to grieve.
“This is an extremely tragic and difficult time for our family. We are grateful for the support we have received already from many people but would like to ask all to respect our privacy as we learn more about the circumstances of Harry’s death, grieve and come to terms with the loss of a wonderful son and brother."
Harry’s parents, Beverly and Nicolus Harling moved to Dubai nine years ago from Surrey and have a 19-year-old daughter Rebecca.
A year II student of Gems Jumeriah College, Harry is remembered by his friends as a fun-loving boy. The school is now offering counseling sessions to his grieving pals. “The college held a coffee morning for the parents (yesterday) so that we could support them also in their time of need,” said school principal Fiona Cottam.
Dubai Police officials have completed investigations into the death of the 15-year-old.
