Dubai Metro services was fully resumed around 10am on Saturday.

The service was temporarily stopped at about 7.30am following a fire that broke out at one of the construction sites on Business Bay.

The commute between Business Bay and Burj Khalifa had been the main problem, said Ramadan Abdullah, Director Rail Operations who was on the site.

"This service was not running till this point. But between Jafiliyah and Burj khalifa we had a shuttle train running back and forth every 20 minutes," he said.

"Furthermore, we had about 10 extra buses servicing stranded commuters."

Shelly Marbaniang, an Indian resident on the commute between Internet City to Oud Metha to go to church was stranded at First Gulf Bank metro station, along with many other commuters.

"There were many people trying to find a taxi. It took me 15 minutes before I got one. The taxi driver was very happy with the situation, though," she laughed.
