An 18-year-old Emirati was killed in a road accident in Al Dhaid-Weshah area, Sharjah, on Sunday evening, when his car flipped over several times with the impact of the collision.

This is the second fatal accident on the same road within a week.

The car the youngster was driving collided with another car, leading to his vehicle rolling over several times, killing him on the spot.

Police patrols and ambulance from Al Dhaid Police Station rushed to the site immediately and his body was transferred to Al Dhaid Hospital.

According to Colonel Ahmed Saeed bin Hareb, Director, Central Region, preliminary investigations reveal that sudden divergence from the main road led the motorist to collide with another passing car before rolling over. The driver of the other car sustained minor injuries.

Colonel Hareb expressed sorrow over the tragic incident and said that this was the second accident that occurred within a week’s time which claimed the lives of young motorists.

He urged motorists to respect speed limits. Even a one-second distraction can lead to accidents, he said and called on motorists to pay complete attention while driving.
