Car on fire on Sheikh Zayed Road; two lanes closed

A vehicle on fire on Sheikh Zayed Road is resulting in a build-up of traffic near Interchange 4, heading south on the busy highway.

The incident was still an active scene at 2.15pm, with emergency personnel on the scene and closing two lanes to traffic.

An eyewitness spoke to Emirates 24|7, saying: “The Volkswagen Beetle on fire is located just next to Al Barsha Salik gate, with the left two lanes cordoned off to vehicular traffic by emergency personnel. Traffic is building up on both sides of the highway.”

Other eyewitnesses also reported on seeing a large plume of black smoke from as far as Trade Centre roundabout.
