Car rams into Umm Al Quwain bakery

Instead of pressing his brake, an Asian motorist pressed the accelerator and slammed his car into the front of a bakery in Umm Al Quwain, Al Ittihad reported.

The vehicle destroyed the bakery frontage and caused a cement column and parts of the ceiling to collapse, without there being any injuries.

Lt Colonel Saeed Obaid bin Eran, Director of Traffic and Patrols, Umm Al Quwain Police said that the accident took place on Friday afternoon on Al Ittihad Street.

He added that it was very obvious that the driver committed a mistake where instead of pressing the brake pedal, he pressed the accelerator.

The accident was due to negligence of the driver and his lack of attention, he said.
