Car tyre bursts kill 9 motorists in Sharjah

Traffic accidents caused by tyres of vehicles bursting have resulted in nine deaths and 33 motorists being injured in the past two years in Sharjah.

Colonel ٍShawaf Abdulrahman, Director, Traffic Department, Sharjah Police, shared the statistic as his department put out an appeal to motorists in the emirate to ensure their car tyres were road-worthy, especially with increasing temperatures now during summer.

Colonel ٍ Abdulrahman added that so far this year (2013), the number of accidents caused by tyres bursting was at five.

Colonel ٍ Abdulrahman stressed the importance of conducting regular maintenance on tyres to ensure safety.

He also called on drivers not to overload vehicles, which could cause tyres to burst.
