The charges against an Emirati football official, who was accused of involving himself in homosexual activity with a 13-year-old schoolboy, has been dropped following lack of corroborated evidence.
According to a 'Gulf News' report, Deira Prosecution on Tuesday dropped the primary charges of involvement in homosexual activity, kidnapping and threats, which the football administrator and a 20-year-old Syrian suspect were facing. Charges of indecent behaviour and possession of pornographic material were also dropped.
The suspects, who were detained on May 10 and subsequently released on bail, have all through denied the accusations.
'Gulf News' quoted a source as saying "the football official reconciled with the schoolboy, who allegedly dropped his complaint after collecting nearly Dh1 million in compensation".
