Child killed, 7 family members hurt in Sharjah rain accident

A four-year-old Asian boy died and seven members of his family were seriously injured when their car overturned outside Sharjah city after the driver tried to avert a pit filled with rain water, a newspaper reported on Monday.

The driver lost balance of the four-wheel vehicle as it started to slide off the road in an area between Sharjah city and Dhaid, 'Emarat Al Youm' said.

It quoted police as saying the boy was killed when he was flung out of the vehicle before it overturned and fell on his body.

The driver, his wife and five other family members were taken to Al Qassimi Hospital.
