China looks to gain from UAE’s equestrian expertise

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai on Friday received Zhang Goali, Member of Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, and Governor of Tianjin City, who is currently visiting the UAE.
The meeting took place at the Marmoum Resthouse where Sheikh Mohammed and his Chinese guest discussed relations between the UAE and China with a special focus on trade, investment and tourism exchange.
Sheikh Mohammed praised the bonds of cooperation and friendship between the two friendly countries and peoples as ''historic''.
He also affirmed the sincere desire of the leadership and government of the UAE to further bolster these ties in all fields, so as to live up to expectations of the Emarati and Chinese leaderships for an exemplary partnership.
The Chinese top official said he was delighted at meeting with Sheikh Mohammed and had talks with him on a host of economic and investment issues of mutual concern.
He said the UAE model on equestrian and investment in this vital sports sector merits appreciation and that his country can benefit from this unique experiment in establishing a joint investment venture as a prelude for other major projects.
Sheikh Mohammed gave his support for an ambitious joint venture between Meydan Racecourses with China-based Tianjin Farm Group, to build Tianjin Horse City, a proposed development similar to Meydan City in Dubai.
The Vice-President said the UAE also welcomes joint long-term trade and economic partnership with China.
The meeting was attended by Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Director of Dubai Ruler's Court Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shaibani, Chairman of the Board of Meydan, Saeed Al Tayer, a number of Meydan senior officials and Chinese Ambassador to UAE Gao Yusheng.
