Court sentences dad who raped daughter

A Ras Al Khaimah court cut a 25-year jail sentence against an Asian man who raped his daughter to three years, a newspaper said on Wednesday.

A criminal court sentenced the man to 25 years in jail after finding him guilty of raping his 18-year-old daughter to prevent her marriage.

A court of appeals on Tuesday reduced the sentence to three years in prison, the semi- official daily Al Ittihad said without mentioning court reasons for the new verdict.

Police arrested the father in the northern emirate following a report by his daughter that he sexually assaulted her.
