‘Definitely Dubai’ wins Best Tourism Film award

Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) has won the award for World’s Best Tourism Film for its ‘Definitely Dubai’ destination film and was presented with the Grand Prix CIFFT Award by the International Committee of Tourism Film Festivals at the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber in Vienna.

Outperforming over 1,400 other tourism films to win the prestigious award, the ‘Definitely Dubai’ film, which was created by DTCM and Dubai production house Eclipse Film Production, is part of DTCM’s ongoing campaign to communicate Dubai’s broad tourism offering.

Dr Ahmad Belhoul, CEO Strategy and Tourism Development, DTCM said: “We’re pleased to have won this award as recognition of the hard work that has gone into creating this high quality film which truly showcases all that Dubai as a destination has to offer.

“As announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, earlier this year - Dubai is aiming to welcome 20 million visitors a year by 2020. One aspect of the Tourism Vision for 2020 strategy to achieve this increase in visitor figures is to ensure we are communicating Dubai’s tourism offering to as wide an audience as possible– something which this film helps us to achieve.”

The film traces Dubai’s history as a small fishing and trading village with bedouin lifestyle through to the cosmopolitan Emirate as we know it today. Highlighting Dubai’s diverse range of activities from world-class shopping malls, spas and restaurants to sports facilities, the film takes viewers through an exciting series of attractions including skydiving and desert driving as well as luxury hotels and family activities encompassing one of Dubai’s unique selling points – a destination with activities in the city, desert and ocean.

The prize was presented at the annual awards ceremony, now in its 25th year, held at the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber in Vienna and attended by over 270 guests from the tourism and film industries. The Definitely Dubai Tourism Film has won 19 prestigious film awards to date.
