The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) in an early morning tweet said: "Fog formation with visibility less than 1,000m at times over most internal areas."

"Fog over Al Ain 200m- Gabal Ali 100m – Khalifa College 750m – Mist over Sharjah 3,000m – Ras AL Khaimah 3,000m…" NCMS tweeted.

Abu Dhabi Police urged drivers to take extra caution, saying there was low visibility due to fog formation on different parts in the capital and highways.

The NCMS also issued a marine warning for Tuesday, cautioning fishermen and deep sea travellers of high waves and rough seas.

Those wondering about their December 31 plans, fog formation is also forecast on New Year’s eve, as well, with winds becoming light and humidity increasing early morning and night over some internal areas.

The skies, meanwhile, will remain partly cloudy in the country in general today, even as the minimum temperatures remain at 7 degrees centigrade in some internal areas and in the mountains.

NCMS stated earlier: “The lowest temperature recorded over the country today morning was 8.9 in Hamim at 6.45am.”
