A desperate father has refused to give up the search for his son – even though two years have passed since the family has heard of the youth.

Majeed Abdul Majeed , a 56-year old Indian expatriate living in Umm Al Quwain held a press conference yesterday in an attempt to stoke media interest in his ‘missing son’s’ story.

Majeed told the media that he hoped someone will have seen him and give the family a clue about his whereabouts.

Two years ago Nishad Majeed took a flight out of Dubai and travelled to the south Indian city of Kannur, via Bangalore and Mangalore.

Nishad, 21 at the time, was employed by a real estate firm in Umm Al Quwain as an accountant.

Speaking to Emirates 24|7, Majeed says, “Nishad was working for AR International Real Estate, Umm Al Quwain, a firm owned by a relative. On June 27, 2009, he took his passport from the company, ostensibly to take a photocopy and boarded an Emirates flight from Dubai to Bangalore, and on June 28 morning, boarded a Kingfisher Airline flight to Mangalore. He is believed to have hired a taxi from Mangalore Airport and travelled to Mangalore railway station.”

This was his trip back to India after working for a year in the UAE.

“Nobody has seen my son after that. Umm Al Quwain police informed us, after verifying his emigration records, that he had flown out of the UAE and the complaints should be lodged with the Indian police. We had food together in our room on June 26. After that I have not seen him. His mother and sister were expecting him back home in Kannur. I still keep his suitcase in the hope that he will return ,” the father added.

The family is now keen to get India’s cyber police cell to access two yahoo email address of Nishad.

The father said there was no major issues at his work place and he had no known history of mental illness or depression.

“We hope he is still alive somewhere,” he added.
