Sharjah Civil Defence has committed to increasing the number of inspection visits to buildings in the emirate after a massive fire gutted all residential units in a high-rise building last month.
Officials told Emirates 24|7 that a sharpening of inspections was a dire need as building developers are flaunting the rules time after time.
The latest fire in Al Naser Tower proved as an example of how rules that are in place to prevent massive incidents like these are not followed thoroughly, hence inspection visits should be increased, the officials commented.
How often inspection rounds should be carried out was not clarified.
A massive fire gutted all 24 levels of Al Naser Tower after a fire had broken out in an apartment on the lower level. It quickly spread upwards to reach the top of the building.
This same year two more residential towers were gutted in addition to a building under construction, a bakery, several warehouses and a school classroom.
