The Dh12,000 24-carat gold Sony Xperia Z mobile phone to be available in Dubai on Tuesday.
It’s luxury of a different kind. It’s no longer about which smartphone you own, but whether it’s dipped in gold or not.
The latest to enter the shimmery catalogue is Sony’s Xperia Z, which will now be available in a 24-carat gold covering.
Apple, BlackBerry and HTC are some of the names that have indulged in this gold fix.
The phone will be on sale at the Collector’s Palace in Dubai Mall. It has been launched by Gold & Co. London and will be their first-ever Android-powered device.
“It will arrive today and will be priced at Dh12,000,” confirmed store owner Joseph. “It will be the first of the limited edition.”
These gold-plated phones are limited edition models and will also be launched at certified Gold & Co. dealerships such as Evolve Lifestyle Group India and the G&C London office in Hong Kong.
According to their official statement, all gold-plated Sony Xperia Z models are individually numbered, custom-made, packaged in handcrafted wooden boxes and come with a guaranteed certificate of authenticity.
Gold & Co. London are also the official supplier to the Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai, where every room is equipped with its 24kt gold iPad.
