A Brit holidaymaker has been fined Dh2,000 for swearing in retaliation to a cyber-stalker's messages begging her for sex on Facebook.

Prosecutors said, she reported a 35-year-old American man to police after he bombarded her Facebook inbox with explicit messages and asked her to become his “sex slave”, reported 7Days.

But the moment 44-year-old Dhadli replied and swore at him, she was also guilty of “insulting behaviour” in the eyes of Dubai Misdemeanor Court.

Both parties were convicted and fined the same amount yesterday. Speaking from her home in Nottingham in the UK, she said: “I will ring court tomorrow and ask how to pay the fine or get a friend of mine to pay the fine. Once the fine is paid, I will make sure I get all papers that prove the case is closed and I won’t come back to Dubai for a long time.”

The paper reported that the stalker, a software engineer, chose her at random after “becoming attracted” to her profile picture on the social networking site last summer. His provocative message became increasingly graphic so Dhadli told him to leave her alone and used an expletive.

The messages continued so she reported it to police who told her to arrange to meet him in a Jumeirah Beach Residence hotel, which she did. The defendant was arrested and charged with insulting the married mother. But he lodged a claim accusing her of the same.
