Dh50,000 each for families affected by Sharjah tower blaze

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, has ordered a financial compensation of Dh50,000 to each family affected by the fire at Al Baker Tower in Al Taawun area of Sharjah.

The directive comes as part of the Ruler’s humanitarian gesture and continuous support to residents impacted by unfortunate circumstances.

Khalifah Al Tunaiji, Director of the Housing Department in Sharjah, said that in accordance with His Highness’ directive, the department of housing is taking immediate steps to cooperate with related departments and civic authorities to ensure the problems of the affected families are sorted out with the least delay.

Several government departments and communities in Sharjah have already started working to provide shelter and support to the affected families of Al Baker Tower No. 4 fire incident.

Organisations including the UAE Red Crescent Authority, Sharjah Charity Society and Sharjah Sports Club have initiated donation campaigns and helped to arrange accommodation for the homeless. Meanwhile, the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) and Al-Qasba Development Authority have also launched a campaign for affected families inviting donors to contribute in kind or cash.

Contributions such as clothes, electronics, furniture and food that have been collected so far are being simultaneously sorted out and distributed among the affected families, in cooperation with the UAE Red Crescent and Sharjah Charity.
