More than 500 employees from the public and private sector took part in Dubai Health Authority’s (DHA) ‘Hope’ Breast Awareness Campaign, launched today in partnership with the Zabeel Ladies Club.

Manal Taryam, CEO of Primary Health Care Centre, PHC, Emirati singer Aryam and Emirati TV presenter Diala, also attended the event.

Dr. Shamsa Abdulla bin Hamad, Senior Specialist in Family Medicine and Head of Community Health Services Programme Section at DHA’s PHC, emphasised the importance of this campaign, which aims to raise awareness about breast cancer and the importance of screening in early detection and treatment.

Dr. Shamsa said the panel discussion at the event included a DHA breast surgeon, a breast cancer patient, and a radiology specialist. The panel discussion focused on the disease’s causes, symptoms and side effects, as well as early detection and its role in increasing survival rates.

Raising awareness about the importance of early detection is vital, as studies have found that early detection can increase survival rates to 98 per cent.
