Divers in underwater National Day parade

Eight Emirati divers marked the upcoming National Day of the UAE by plunging into water off Fujeirah to raise the country’s flag and pictures of its leaders.

The eight from Emirates Identity Authority invited local journalists to witness the event, which lasted for more than an hour.

“We just wanted to show our love and loyalty for our country and leadership,” the team leader Ismail Al Baloushi told the semi official daily Alittihad.

The UAE marks its 41st anniversary on December 2, when it was created from seven Gulf emirates in 1971 just after Britain ended its long-standing colonial rule.
