Docs warned against false sick leave notes

The Health Authority of Abu Dhabi has warned health facilities in the emirate that issuing false or misleading sick-leave certificates may lead to a criminal liability, apart from other disciplinary measures.

This comes in conjunction with the establishment of an electronic system and new standards for the issuance of sick leave certificates.

According to a circular issued the electronic system will be mandatory and apply to all health care providers licensed by the Health Authority.

The authority has also suspended the collection of fees for the issuing of sick leave certificates.
