Doctor assaulted for not certifying false sick leave
An Arab man punched and injured a doctor who refused to falsely certify him as sick to obtain medical leave.
The man was so infuriated that he punched and injured Dr Yusuf Baker, a Jordanian doctor at the Saqr Hospital in Ras Al Khaimah. The doctor who was left unconscious with a bleeding nose had to be admitted for treatment.
The public prosecution on Wednesday ordered the culprit to be detained for seven days, reported Khaleej Times.
The 40-year-old doctor was on duty when the man approached him for a medical certificate to support his leave from work. However the doctor who found the man absolutely healthy refused to issue one.
The suspect who then assaulted the doctor was later arrested by the police who handed him over to the public prosecution.
The prosecution has sought a full medical report on the condition of the doctor who was assaulted.
In a similar incident earlier this year, an Emirati patient had beaten up an Egyptian doctor at the same hospital.
