Anasy Media recently produced a new documentary entitled “Nanny Culture”, a concept idea of Sheikha Alyazia bint Nahiyan bin Mubarak Al Nahiyan and directed by the British director Paul James Driscoll.

The UAE social media star “Bin Baz” together with the renowned tuareg artist Bombino’s (real name Omara Moctar) collaborates with his song “Timtar” in the documentary soundtrack.

“Nanny Culture”, with its strikingly new and bright idea, lures the viewers into another world and unusual style of documentary with some elements of mockumentary filming.

The story revolves around an Emirati family who temporarily hire the services of a British nanny to help them organize their children’s daily activities and study schedules.

The plot is centered on interactivity and friction between the children and nanny, as she guides them to change their daily routine and habits.

The camera amusingly depicts the emotions and sentiments revealing the relation between the nanny, children and their parents, besides her relation with the other domestic helpers in the house.

The documentary shows glances of the Emirati culture of acceptance of other nationalities and their unique way of life.

It also indicates how the other nationalities see the Emirati culture and to what extent they could interact and coexist with each other in harmony.

The film also discloses aspects of inter-relations and inter-cultural coexistence within one limited space.

It displays the nanny’s background, the goals of an Emirati family and the benefits of employing a nanny. The documentary is a spot-on replication of the existing social state of affairs and the type of life led by a British nanny working for an Emirati family.

The documentary addresses several issues, like the family’s cautiousness to make the nanny observe the local traditions, while she teaches and brings up their children; the pros and cons of hiring a nanny, how much families benefit from hiring nannies; how other families view the family that hires a nanny and in the end how a nanny adapts to the new work and social environment.

The documentary shows a panoramic view of some of the prominent landmarks in London and the UAE, highlighting its heritage, cultural and sports related locations along with several tourist destinations. The film is an authentic imprint of the living experience in the UAE.
