An Ethiopian attempted to open and steal a car parked at Dubai International Airport using a knife but was unaware that he had been seen by a policeman, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.
Policeman Mahmoud Mousa, while he was on duty controlling the parking at the airport, suspected an African who was roaming around the parked cars.
“As he passed by a black Range Rover, he stepped towards its front right door, pulled a knife from his pocket and tried to open the door. Before I reached him, he could open the door, but when the car’s security alarm sounded, the accused run away. I ran after him and seized the knife from his hand before handcuffing him,” testified the policeman.
After first admitting to the crime, HK, driver, denied it completely.
The Court will give its sentence on April 6.
