Drug addict traps girl via Snapchat

Amal Abdul Rahman Al Fuqaie, Head of Social Networking Department at General Directorate of Anti-Narcotics, Dubai Police, disclosed how a female student was rescued from the clutches of a drug addict.

The student befriended the man via Snapchat and he lured her into a relationship promising marriage.

Al Fuqaie said, the absence of family involvement was the main reason for the girl’s involvement in such a relationship.

“The girl's family did not know anything about their daughter’s affair,” she said.

The secret relationship also affected her studies and she began performing badly in academics.

The affair came to light when Dubai Police received information about a narcotic addict.

When police raided the suspect’s home, they found the girl with him.

The girl told police that the young man is addicted to drugs and unemployed.

Al Fuqaie said the girl also admitted that she has tried narcotic pills that he gave her.

The General Directorate of Anti-Narcotics then summoned the girl’s family, who were shocked on learning about her relationship with the addict.

Al Fuqaie stressed that parents’ lack of interest in their children’s activities expose youngsters to such dangers on social networking sites.

Laboratory tests confirm there are no traces of drugs in the girl, said Al Fuqaie and added that the addict has since been sent to prison.
