DSF: What to look out for this weekend in Dubai

It’s the season to shop, grab a bargain, win incredible raffle draws and be entertained. And, in keeping with those sentiments, shopaholics in the emirate have an impressive line-up of fun, snazzy entertainment to choose from.

With just two more weeks before the 19th edition of the Dubai Shopping Festival ends, we’ve handpicked a few must-do things for the coming weekend.

The 32-day annual shopping extravaganza, under the theme ‘Shop At Your Best’, has been a roaring success with residents and tourists.

And part from packing in hard-to-resist bargains, the festival organisers have also lined up an impressive line of events to keep the shopaholics entertained and rejuvenated.

Here’s our top picks…

Flying Superkids Show

Every evening, at 5pm and 6.30 pm, Kids will be treated at the Zabeel Park to an enthralling Flying Superkids show, where young performers will dazzle with their gymnastic skills, and sway to upbeat music and mesmerizing dances.

Shaabiat Al Cartoon Show

Kids will be thrilled to watch the fun Emirati-themed cartoon show and also learn a few important social messages as well at the Mushrif Park. The fun begins at 4pm, 5pm, 6.30pm and 8pm.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

It’s full-on action at the BurJuman and the Teenage Ninja Mutant turtles step out on a fun crusade. Watch Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo and Donatello dazzle the crowd with their fast and furious weaponry skills at 6.15pm, 7.45pm, 8.45pm.

Furby Live Show

Kids will have fun matching their step with the furry toys as they make the debut at the DSF. The fun bunch will be at the Walk in JBR at 5pm, 6.30pm and 9 pm.

Alice in Wonderland Tea Party

Kids can embark on a fantastic journey with Alice to her wonderland. The party begins at 4.30pm, 6.30pm and 9.30pm at the Mirdif City Centre.

Omar Khairat Concert

Be treated to a night of mesmerising, soul-stirring performance by one of the most applauded composers and pianists in the Middle East – Omar Khairatm at the Emirates Golf Club. The magic kicks off at 7pm.

DSF Music Nights – Rabeh Saqer & Diana Hadad

Allow Arabic stalwarts Rabeh Saqer and Diana Haddad to enthral you with their magical voice at the Burj Park on Thursday at 9pm.

World Classical Musical Series

Acclaimed Russian violinist Maxim Fedotov and renowned pianist Galina Petrova come together for an enchanting musical night at the One and Only Royal Mirage (8pm) on Thursday.

MiXTAPE Rewind

Time to take a step back in time and listen to some foot-tapping numbers of the 90s with tracks from Vengaboys, Snap!, N-Trance, Boney M and Dr. Alban. The trip down memory lane unfolds from 7pm on Friday at Emirates Golf Club.

Original Strauss Capelle Wien: Johann Strauss Viennese Orchestra

Witness Vienna’s most renowned orchestras at their maiden Dubai show at the Emirates Gold Club on January 18 at 8pm.

Naseeruddin Shah Theatre Fiesta

Over three days, watch Indian cinema’s most renowned actor Naseeruddin Shah mesmerise the audience with his three of his greatest theatrical performances at the DUCTAC, at 7pm and 9pm, starting today.

We Are The Champions

Join the performers of the We Are The Champions as they pay a spectacular tribute to Elton John, Michael Jackson, Tina Turner and Freddie Mercury at the Madinat Jumeriah Theatre from 7pm onwards.

DSF Carnival

There will never be a dull moment on Al Riqqa street after 8pm as the parade unfolds with fun and festivity. It’s packed with musicians, dancers, acrobats, gymnasts, stilt walkers and many more fun characters.

DSF Fireworks

If you are fan of watching the sky come alive in sparkling colours, then the daily fireworks are a must-watch along the Dubai creek-side. Head there by 8pm, and watch the sky come alive.
