Dubai, Abu Dhabi commuters caught in gridlock

Foggy conditions in Abu Dhabi and parts of Al Ain have created pockets of traffic this morning near the capital, with police authorities warning drivers to proceed with caution due to low visibility.

While the fog has yet to completely clear in parts, across the highway, three accidents have been reported in Dubai in a span of one hour, while gridlock is also being cited by motorists in various parts of the city.

Some Sharjah residents also vented their frustration on social media sites, with Al Nahda, the National Paints junction and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road looking sticky this morning.

Accident report

The first of several accidents has been reported on E611 or the new Emirates Road, heading in the direction of Abu Dhabi.

The accident has been reported just past exit 70, with police vehicles already on the scene but traffic remains slow moving. 

The E311 or Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road heading in the direction of Dubai is witnessing slow moving traffic from Sharjah industrial and National Paints junction, heading towards Mirdif and beyond.

Those on Al Khail Road may also encounter pockets of congestion as the traffic situation near the Umm Sequim exit is dire, due to you yet another accident earlier today.

Those heading from Beach Road or Al Wasl Road to connect to Umm Sequim may also find things moving slow.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Zayed Road is facing its own set of problems with commuters specially complaining about 30-minute delays exiting The Gardens and attempting to connect on to the highway from Hessa Street.

 Across the highway though, even though there is yet another accident reported on Airport Road, heading to Abu Dhabi International, the good news is, the accident outbound on Sheikh Zayed Street after Salama Bint Butti Street has finally cleared.
