Dubai Airports confirms water leak at Emirates’ Concourse A

A water leakage has affected part of the Concourse A, which is part of the Emirates Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport.

The leakage occurred in the early hours of Thursday morning, with no apparent cause yet reported by the concerned parties.

A Dubai Airports spokesperson highlighted the details saying: “Dubai Airports confirms a section of Concourse A was cordoned off following water leakage that occurred in the facility in the early hours on Thursday.

“Additional staff have been deployed across the facility to minimise inconvenience to customers, while engineering and customer service staff are on site to clean the affected areas and return the facility to normal operations.

“Dubai Airports apologises for any inconvenience caused to its customers.”

Emirates has been contacted for a statement.

Concourse A opened on January 2, 2013 with the departure of EK003 to Heathrow London.

According to Dubai Airports, in its first year of operations the facility has handled 22.9 million pieces of luggage and 50,000 flights serving 14.6 million passengers.
 
Designed for the exclusive use of Emirates airline, Concourse A has increased the airport’s total capacity from 60 million passengers to 75 million passengers per annum.

The facility also serves Qantas following the Australian carrier’s tie-up with Emirates.

Concourse A is the world’s only purpose built facility for the Airbus A380 currently in operation with a total built-up area of 528,000m2 .

The facility features 20 aircraft contact gates, all capable of accommodating the A380, in addition to 13 remote stands.

Dubai International Hotel has both four- and five star operations at Concourse A.
