The General Headquarters of the Dubai Police has urged seafarers and fishermen to be cautious due to the bad weather conditions.
It added that the swimming has been temporarily suspended because of the rough sea resulting from strong winds.
Major Ali Abdullah Al Qaseeb Al Naqbi, head of marine rescue at the Dubai Police, said the red flag has been raised to ban swimming on the beaches, and called on the public to comply with the municipal and police instructions in this respect.
"Based on the meteorological reports, the sea will be turbulent most of the time and the waves will be rising. Therefore, the seafarers and fishermen are warned not to venture out to the sea," he said.
Major Al Naqbi said that the Dubai Police were prepared to deal with all emergency cases round the clock, urging the public to dial 999 in the event of an emergency.
