Dubai-bound PIA flight catches fire on takeoff

A Dubai-bound PIA plane made an emergency landing immediately after taking off from the Karachi airport due to a technical fault.

There were 54 passengers onboard Pakistan International flight PK213.

A Pakistan International Airline (PIA) spokesperson said the aircraft made emergency landing due to a technical fault. The aircraft caught fire 5 minutes after takeoff due to the glitch.

A team of engineers is currently investigating technical glitch and the cause of fire.

The spokesperson said the fire was brought immediately under control by the pilot and didn't allow it to spread. They commended pilot's efforts to douse the fire.

The aircraft took off at 1010pm from Karachi International Airport for Dubai.

The passengers were accommodated in another aircraft which later took to Dubai.
