A Qantas Airways flight bound for Dubai was forced to turnaround last evening when an ‘unruly passenger’ caused disruption with ‘threatening behaviour’.

Flight QF2, which was scheduled to take off from London Heathrow at 9.15pm turned around nearly two hours later, when a British national turned violent and had to be restrained.

Flight tracking site, Flight Radar 24, indicated the plane turned around near Frankfurt, Germany.

In a statement to Emirates 24|7, a Qantas spokesperson said: “Qantas flight QF2 from London to Dubai turned back to London about one hour into the flight to offload an unruly passenger for threatening behaviour.

“The passenger was restrained by crew and the aircraft landed safely in London at around 11.50pm local time. The aircraft was met by local authorities on arrival.”

The spokesperson continued: “This type of disruption inconveniences our customers and comes at significant cost to Qantas, but we take a zero tolerance approach to aggressive behaviour on board.”

The A380 superjumbo took off once again at 2.12am and is now expected to land at 12.50pm, with over a four-hour delay; it will then continue onwards to Sydney, it’s final destination.

A passenger on board the flight tweeted about the incident, stating the man in question appeared to be “30-35 years old. Short, slightly rotund, went straight into the ambulance.”
