Dubai Central Laboratory aims to be international centre in certification and accreditation

Dubai Municipality has launched a new service for the registration of companies and issuance of certificate and accreditation in the field of solar water heaters at regional and global level.

The move came as part of DM’s keenness to provide the best services to customers and achieve its vision to create an excellent city that provides success and the comfort of sustainable living, implementing the best international practices in the entire municipal activities and services.

The Dubai Central Laboratory of Dubai Municipality has developed the basic elements and requirements for this service with its own efforts and established entire procedures and provisions to issue certificates or accreditation mark for the products/companies as per the international standards No. 12975  in line with Global ISO Guide 65 for certifying authorities.

Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director-General of Dubai Municipality explained that this service was launched in the fourth quarter of 2013 in tune with the policy of leadership and excellence adopted by DM in achieving the strategic directives of Dubai Government. It is also aimed to adopt the best programmes and practices at a global level in the field of saving energy within the sustainable and eco-friendly building system complying with the specifications and codes of green building in the emirate of Dubai.

"DCL has received applications for certification for solar water heater complexes from 21 international plants and registration request from 36 suppliers of solar water heaters representing those plants. We are proud to achieve this international reputation and leadership within this short period,"  he said.
