In line with its objective to integrate new technology in customs systems and processes, Dubai Customs, DC, has announced the launch of new 'smart watch' services, as part of its participation in the Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (Gitex) 2014.

The new smart watch services are easily accessible and highly user-friendly aimed at stepping up service delivery, according to DC.

Juma Al Ghaith, Executive Director of Customs Development Division at Dubai Customs, said, "Delivering services through a smart watch platform is in response to the initiative of Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to transform Dubai into the world’s smartest city within 3 years, by taking service quality and delivery channels to new heights. This coincides with H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council's launch of a government work system designed to lay the foundation stone for creating a smart government in all Dubai Government departments and institutions, emphasising the integration of roles and plans between federal and local governments."

Juma Al Ghaith said that Dubai Customs is offering 15 smart watch services, including: Request for Client Registration Inquiry, Request for Trade Agency Registration, Trademark Registration, Request for Customs Opinion, Request for Appeal, Request for Goods Classification, Request for Reconciliation, Request for Guarantees / Deposits Claims and Refunds, Request for Customs License, Request for Certificate, Request for Report, Request for Awareness and Training, Submit Complaints, Suggestions and Enquiries, Contact Director General, and Submit RAFED Information.

Dubai Customs’ smart watch delivered services include Applications Progress Inquiry Service, Customs Declaration Progress Inquiry, Inspection Request Inquiry, Refund Application Progress Inquiry and Registration Application Progress Inquiry.

Al Ghaith continued, "With this new breakthrough, all of DC clients’ services are now catered online via smart watches. This advancement is geared to meet Dubai Smart Government’s strategy as our approach is to provide a multi-channel service delivery."

Dubai Customs takes part in GITEX 2014, under the umbrella of the Dubai Smart Government pavilion. Its slogan, "One touch ahead, a thousand miles beyond" speaks for itself as a sign of Dubai Customs’ desire to be the first in delivering innovative and superior smart services to ensure optimum satisfaction of both customers and the public.
