Dubai Economic Council initiates 'Meer Ramadan'

The Dubai Economic Council (DEC) launched its Ramadan Initiative “Meer Ramadan”, the campaign comes in collaboration with food companies from the private sector. These companies include Emirates Macaroni, Emirates Dates, IFFCO and United Foods.

The campaign distributes an amount of 1000 packages comprising basic consumer goods such as Macaroni, flour, ghee, oil and dates etc. The moves aim is to help relieve 500 workers and 500 families in the UAE registered with Bair Al Khair Society. The charitable organization handled distribution of these packages to those in need.

On this occasion, Sheikha Mona Abdullah Al Moalla, Chief Operating Officer, Strategic Planning & Operations of the Dubai Economic Council, commented that that our selection of the Beit Al Khair Society was based on our common goals which emphasize that charity work, to pay off, must be based on cooperation with the right charitable bodies, humanitarian associations and NGOs’ for the benefit of the public.

“This step comes within our efforts to engage the private sector in community service program through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs that involves delivering aid to the needy wherever they are” she added. Sheikha Mona expressed her appreciation to all partners in this campaign, who provided the support needed to make this campaign succeed in record time.

Sheikha Mona Al Moalla calls for all companies and bodies to collaborate to realize these initiatives.

Al Moalla stated that “social responsibility” is ahead the principles and values that the DEC believes and seeks to enhance in the UAE society as it reflects the social solidarity across citizens.

In his turn, Mr. Abdeen Al-Awadi, general manager of Beit Al Khair association expressed his thanks and appreciation for the DEC’s initiative, saying that this charity campaign reflects the DEC’s commitment to social responsibility and support to those who suffer stumbled circumstances.

He added that these food packages will meet the needs of laborers and those in need sponsored by the charitable society during the holy month of Ramadan. Such moves strengthen social relations, depicting an honorable model serving charitable and humanitarian work.
