On this Friday the 13th (yes, we’re too wondering why), Sony Computer Entertainment launched its hot-selling PlayStation 4 (PS4) gaming console in the UAE and across the Gulf region.

To celebrate the launch of PS4, PlayStation Middle East got their fans and gamers to declare their loyalty to PS4 live on one of Dubai’s iconic buildings, Cayan Tower, which is the world’s tallest twisted tower, located in Dubai Marina.

PS ME has, for the first time in the Middle East, introduced its PS4 Urban Light Art Projection, the consolidation of live street art and augmented reality with digital graffiti projection. This is the technology that was used to create the graffiti on Dubai’s Cayan Tower.

The firm maintains that the concept has been inspired by urban architecture and the street-level art culture that surrounds Dubai and the region. We have engaged with Dubai’s headlining graffiti artists’ Steffi Bow and Sya One, to create and showcase a live declaration of play from all of PlayStation’s fans. The company also managed to immerse key locations in Dubai such as Dubai Internet City, Dubai Media City and Knowledge Village in blue during the launch.

The new gaming console is now available in Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman and the UAE, for Dh1,699, arriving with a lineup of over 20 first- and third-party games, including exclusive titles like Knack and Killzone: Shadow Fall. In total, the PS4 system will have a library of over 30 games by the end of this month.

“PS4 is here! This is an incredibly exciting time for PlayStation Middle East and we are humbled by the extraordinary support from all the gamers in the Middle East and Africa,” said Robert Fisser, General Manager of Sony Computer Entertainment in Middle East, Africa, Turkey, and India.

“PS4 is for the players and has been designed with that in mind. There are many people involved in making this happen, to all of whom I would like to say thanks. You are witnessing next generation simplicity and new age of gaming and this is just the beginning. To the players and our fans, let's play!”
