Shashi Tharoor loves Dubai and there is more than one reason to it.

India’s Minister of State for Human Resource Development who was here to launch his new book Pax Indica, says he has recently developed a new love for the UAE, and Dubai in particular.

“My wife is from Dubai. My foster son studies here and I have quite a few friends here in the country, including the UAE minister of foreign affairs, Shaikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan who released my new book in the UAE. Dubai has a special place in my heart,” the minister said during the book signing ceremony at the Borders store in Mall of the Emirates.

The minister was also all praise for the impressive development UAE has witnessed during the past few decades.

“The infrastructure development in the country is really impressive,” he added.

Tharoor was appointed minister during a recent cabinet reshuffle. He had resigned from the cabinet earlier as the Minister of State for External Affairs due a controversy related to the Kochi IPL team.

Known for expressing his views openly on twitter, the minister recently said he would not shy away from using the social media.

In his recent book he explained the need for India to move beyond non-alignment to multi-alignment and a country with greater responsibility in the contemporary world.
