Dubai Metro stopped for 10 minutes on Tuesday, February 14, evening at around 7.30pm due to technical glitch.

The trains stopped functioning between Union Station to Jebel Ali affecting the busy evening traffic. Commuters returning home after work had a tough time as entry gates were closed due to overcrowded stations.

A passenger on Dubai Metro near Internet City Station said trains stopped in both the directions and there was announcement that metro has been stopped for 10 minutes due to mechanical glitch.

According to one of the passenger, commuters were seen getting out of the station to take alternate means to go home. "There are no taxis available. So I just took the green line and moved on. Many others were doing the same," said Kiran Raj.

Speaking to Emirates 247 at 7:20pm an RTA customer service executive said: "The problem started at about half an hour ago. All trains between the Union Station and Jebel Ali had stopped. Our engineers rushed to the spot. The problem was rectified soon."

The metro started again after the 10 minutes as announced, a passenger said.

Dubai Metro was also affected by a minor technical glitch in late December last year when doors failed to open.
