As part of maintaining the general cleanliness of desert areas Dubai Municipality has deployed special teams including 35 workers for cleaning activities in desert areas of Dubai.
According to waste management department officials at the civic body this comes as the winter is drawing near and the number of visitors to the desert areas started increasing these days.
Abdul Majeed Saifaie, director of waste management department, said: “As the winter season started a good number people are going to desert areas. Also, as the civic body started issuing winter camp permits the possibilities to increase quantity of rubbish in the desert areas are high.”
He said his department has arranged a comprehensive mechanism to collect waste from the desert areas including camp sites.
According to the plan, workers will roam around the areas 24 hours to collect waste, he said.
He said extra waste containers have been placed and necessary instructions have been displayed to ensure that cleanliness is maintained during entertainments.
The instructions ask visitors strictly not leave the remnants of cooking fire in the sand areas. It should be put in the designated areas.
