Dubai Municipality: More gold for weight losers
After receiving an overwhelming response for the ‘Your Weight In Gold’ campaign, the Dubai Municipality has announced its decision to double the gold gain from 1gram to 2 grams for every kilo lost.
And this, for every participant who loses 5 kilos or more.
Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director-General, Dubai Municipality, told Emirates24|7 how they had received more than 6,000 registrations within a few days of its launch.
“Instead of what was previously announced, we will give two grams of gold for each kilogram for those who lose 5kg and above.
“And three grams for each kilogram for those who lose 10kg and above.”
He emphasised that the minimum weight to lose will remain unchanged at 2 kilos.
“The new decision is expected to motivate more people to participate and make sturdy competition among the participants, turning it into one of the biggest community initiative.”
Highlighting the thought behind this unique initiative, Mohamed Al Noori, Director of Corporate Marketing and Relations, said, “The municipality is committed towards the overall welfare of the city including public health, safety, awareness and environmental issues.
“We need healthy people in the city to live in our beautiful buildings. To achieve this goal the civic body has provided around 91 public places including public parks, residential parks, squares, jogging and cycling tracks and open beaches, encouraging people to do regular fitness activities.”
