Dubai outlets to keep major discounts on TVs

Dubai witnessed last-minute shopping rush on Monday as brands continued with their attractive festival offers.

Although the Dubai Shopping Festival ended on Sunday, January 5, several outlets continued to sell goods at DSF prices. According to sources the offers might continue until February 15. Shops have, however, withdrawn their bundle offers and gift vouchers that added further value to DSF sales.

“Televisions sets, laptops, mobile phones and tablets are all going at discounted prices. We have been instructed by the principal agencies to continue with DSF prices for the time being,” said a sales representative from Pug-ins.

Among electronic items, flat panel television sets have specifically been doing well this DSF, especially due to discounts of up to 40 per cent.

“At the beginning of DSF we only had about two brands that had priced their 32-inch models at less than Dh999. By the last week of DSF we had about five to six brands of 23 inch TVS at around Dh850 to Dh950”said an E-max executive.

This DSF has been exceptionally good for many retailers with sales exceeding last year’s DSF figures. “Flat TV’s alone have been selling fast, especially the LCD and LED sets,” said a sales staff from Sharaf DG.

Last week staff had told 'Emirates24|7' that on an average about 100 sets were being sold this DSF at some of their popular outlets. Reports quoting Harmon House said had witnessed a 42 per cent increase in sales this DSF compared to last year.
