Schedule of the second edition of the Dubai International Peace Convention was released on Wednesday which will kick off tomorrow, Thursday April 12, and will continue till Saturday.

This event is being held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.

The objective of the convention is to share ideas and solutions that help to cultivate a peaceful world, in which the concepts of equality and moderation urged by the Islamic religion are respected. It is also envisioned that this will enhance religious understanding within an environment characterized by mutual respect. This humanitarian drive will be fueled by tolerance and benefit all the world’s religions, not just Islam.

The convention will host a group of internationally-respected figures who have upheld the Islamic faith through their participation in various lectures, inter-faith dialogues and activities. They are all united under one goal: to encourage ​​pure thought that is not tainted by any fallacies, mistrust or misconceptions of any kind. This is therefore a fantastic opportunity to spread liberal thoughts and proposals.

Among the internationally-known names at this conference are Sheikh Abdul Rahman Sudais, Grand Imam of the Grand Mosque; and Sheikh Mashary, guest of honor at the convention. They will lead worshipers in prayer on Friday, April 13th.

Other speakers include Dr Zakir Naik, one of the most prominent scholars of Islam and Comparative Religion. He will be joined by great orators like Sheikh Yusuf Estes, Sheikh Abdur Raheem Green, Sheikh Tawfiq Chowdhury, Sheikh Mohammad Sharif, Sheikh Abdul Bari Yahya, Sheikh Hussein Yee, and acclaimed lawyer Mayan Kutty Mather, as well as other leading humanitarians and thinkers.

Dr Hamad Al Shaibani, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for World Peace, said: "We envision that this convention will bring fresh thinking and insights that will help to end the human tragedy of wars and unrest. We are coming together with a unified vision of overcoming religious and cultural differences, renouncing violence and using reason and dialogue as tools to cultivate universal prosperity that is nourished by tolerance.”

He added: "The UAE is a living example of the state of coexistence which the convention aspires towards. This great nation is the custodian of more than 200 different nationalities from around the world, and thanks to God Almighty and our wise leaders, the UAE is now a pioneer of innovative solutions for the progress of humankind.”

The convention offers an attractive range of lectures, discussions and Question and Answer segments. These lectures cover topics such as “Islam is a religion of peace”, "One World, One Way, One God," and many other thought-provoking topics. These will shed more light on the relationship between religion and science, as well as the relationships between the different religions themselves. 

The Dubai International Peace Convention will offer a diverse range of Islamic products, giving Muslims an alternative for certain products currently in circulation. Islam teaches that Allah loves children and the youth, and therefore there will be a Kids’ Corner dedicated for children to utilize all the educational and recreational activities that nourish their minds and bodies, while their parents are inspired by the discussions at the convention.
