Dubai police achieved 289 missions and dealt with 73 maritime accidents in 2016

The Maritime Rescue Department in the General Directorate of Dubai Police achieved 289 missions and dealt with 73 accidents over the past year.

Lieutenant Ali Abdullah Al Naqbi, Head of Maritime Rescue Department, stated that maritime accidents included drowning, collisions between ships and boats in addition to ships delinquency .

He affirmed that Dubai police is always ready to deal with emergency accidents immediately, noting that there are 8 rescue checkpoints in the different locations of the province, in addition to boats, water scooters and bikes ready for cases of emergency.

He stated that Dubai police responds quickly to accidents within a period of 7 to 8 minutes, achieving a high rank in the speed response indicator . He noted that this indicator identifies the required response period as 12 minutes.

The 901 Call Center for non- emergency called in Dubai police received 193, 521 calls during 2016, consisting of 168,206 inquiries, 14,028 support calls via smartphone application, 9844 workers complaints and 343 users complaints.

Captain Mohammed Hamad, Acting Director of the Call Center said that the center has succeeded in achieving its goals established consisting of easing the pressure on the number of emergency / 999 .

The center received more than 20,000 calls via Dubai smartphone application .
