Anti-narcotic officers from Dubai Police, aided by their counterparts from police forces in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, have busted a gang of six notorious Arab drugs traffickers in early October and foiled an attempt to smuggle 11kg of hashish to Saudi Arabia in an operation code-named the 'Domino'.

Major-General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police for Criminal Investigation, said the six young professional and dangerous criminals, who used to smuggle drugs to and from other countries including the UAE, had been fallen into police hands like domino pieces.

He noted that the mastermind of the ring is just 22 years old.

Colonel Eid Mohammed Thani, Acting Director of the anti-narcotics department, Dubai Police, said the anti-narcotic officers acted upon information they received on September 30 about illegal activities of the first suspect, a 27-year old employee.

The police, he added, arrested him in Dubai and found 11kg of hashish inside his car and then the other members were arrested one after another.

The suspects are facing charges ranging from taking and possession of drugs to drug trafficking.
