Dubai Police guideline in case of 'brake-failure' in your car
Dubai Police have published guidelines for motorists in case of a brake failure while driving, following a series of such incidents in the UAE and other Gulf states.
The guidelines, published on Facebook, recommended that drivers immediately turn flash lights on, shift the gear to ‘N’ position, switch engine off and then on.
In case this does not work, drivers should keep pressing the brakes with full force until the car slows down and stops, or use the hand brakes gradually to halt the vehicle.
Below are the police recommendations:
1 Turn all flash lights on.
2 Shift the gear to N position, switch the engine off then on at the same time.
3 In case the driver could not shift to N, he should press the brakes with full force continuously until the car stops.
4 In case this attempt fails, use the hand brakes gradually while holding the wheel firmly until the car stops.
5 If all previous attempts fail, move the gear to N then to D continuously.
