An Indian man’s search for his alleged Emirati father led him to seek the help of Dubai Police. He contacted Naif police station with his dad’s old picture, his parents’ marriage certificate and his birth certificate, reported Al Bayan.

Asaad claims that his father, married his mother about 40 years ago and returned to the UAE a few weeks after the marriage, and since then his mom has not been able to reach him.

Meanwhile, his mother filed for divorce in an Indian court and married a second time and moved to another Gulf country along with Asaad, said Brigadier Dr Mohammed Al Murr, Director, Department of Human Rights, Dubai Police.

Asaad first contacted the UAE Interior and Foreign Ministries from Qatar, where he currently resides with his mother and half-brothers, Brig. Murr said and added that as per the documents provided, his father is an Emirati, who was working as a policeman and was 33 years old when he married his Indian wife in 1974.

Brig. Murr said investigations revealed that his father had passed away 13 years ago and is survived by another wife, a son and five daughters.

Dubai Police arranged for the brothers to meet. However, their DNA test did not match.

Brig. Murr said that the pictures and documents carried by the two men increased the complexity of the issue, especially after the negative result of the DNA tests.

Fatima Al Kindi, Head, Social Support Section, General Department of Human Rights, Dubai Police, said, “The documents presented by Asaad were verified and were incorrect,” and added that the department of human rights has helped many similar cases.

Meanwhile, Asaad has filed a complaint with Dubai public prosecution, seeking to call his mother and his five siblings and to have their DNA tests done, too.

Brig. Mur said, the department has made every effort to help Asaad reach his brother and to obtain an Emirati passport, but the issue is complicated and requires other departments to be involved apart from Dubai Police.
